Life's Purpose
When we struggle with life, with all its loose ends, and attempt to make sense of life and tie those loose ends together it helps to have signposts or directions.
The Church has 2000 years of experience in giving people a purpose, in living life for others, and in pursuing goals and values which are counter-cultural.
Here in Wentbridge, Darrington and Smeaton we attempt to help you make sense of life when it appears to have lost its meaning, and when there is a sense of loss, or emptiness in your life. The clergy and lay staff team are on hand to help you think though things, and to rediscover that vision purpose and determination which you once knew.
We pray for you, and listen to you. We offer a friendly listening ear and spiritual counsel. What makes the Church different to life coaches is that this advice is free.

Life is a leap of faith.

Why are we here?
What are we here for?
Who was that Jesus bloke anyway?

The Church has a tradition of belief and worship, made in response to what we believe God has done for us. We welcome everyone, regardless of anything which they consider makes them different. We show no prejudice, and everyone is welcome in Church. We invite you to join us as we search together for that meaning and purpose in our lives and seek to follow Jesus the founder of our faith, and the one in whose name we meet and worship and celebrate the great festivals of the Church year such as Advent, Christmas, Epiphany and Easter. Christians find meaning and strength in the symbol of the cross. The cross pictured is in Wentbridge Church. Why not go to the 9.15am Sunday service there and spend some time meditating upon it?
May God bless you as you look, today and everyday.
Your friend and vicar
Adrian

When the sun is shining and everything is going right we should praise God.
When it’s raining outside, and all is gloom and doom then we should pray.
The Psalms of David give lots of ideas of how to pray. David was a very emotional king and expressed his emotions and his faith and his doubts in poems or songs which are called Psalms. You will be familiar with the 23rd Psalm from funeral services. How many other psalms do you know?
